And if they're trapped without a pointer *certainly* they won't need the 'expert options' dropdown to work!" interface instead. Of course after I rebooted after the install completed, the pointer worked fine again. Hate. --s.

Even better: Linux boxes* that randomly decide that no, really, I've never seen this "mouse" of which you speak and proceed to start some loathsome, hateful piece of "hardware detection" software on *every* subsequent boot until *finally* the settings stick. Until the next time we get to repeat this "fun" > > Of course after I rebooted after the install completed, the pointer > worked fine again. HAH! No, it's just *waiting* > > Hate. > --s. *Yes, Fedora, I am looking directly at you, you vile, festering, soggy pile of crap.

This sounds almost as bad as windows xp. Almost every time I plug in a USB mouse it pops up a "new hardware detected" wizard and encourages me to configure it. It's a laptop. I like to plug a usb mouse in. Often. And it's even the same damn mouse. It doesn't need any fucking configuration it just needs to move the stupid pointer around like every other mouse on the bloody planet. *VERY* annoying. Oddly, about 1 in 10 it doesn't pop the box up and the mouse does just start working. I can only assume this is a bug. > *Yes, Fedora, I am looking directly at you, you vile, festering, > soggy pile of crap. Odd. I have a fedora laptop. And I like to plug a USB mouse into that as well. And it's never done anything but work straight away without needing its hand held. Software, got to hate it. Cheers, Martin.

I can only assume this is a bug. Try always plugging it into the same USB port. XP would freak out on me and want to reinstall drivers if I dared to plug in my camera on a different port than the last time I plugged it in. "Universal? That means 'constrained', right?" --sjd;
